Are there “soft” techniques I can use to protect myself?

Are there “soft” techniques my daughter or wife can use in uncomfortable situations so that she does not have to necessarily have to fight and get into trouble with the law?

Yes! At SDS, we do teach soft techniques that can be used first to hopefully de-escalate the situation. These include our wrist releases, arm locks, wrist locks, leg locks if you are on the ground, and certain submissions that can be used in these situations. These techniques basically say, “don’t screw with me, or it will end badly for you.” We at SDS encourage the use of soft techniques first. Hopefully, the potential assailant will appropriately back off. However, if he/she does not, our more aggressive techniques can be utilized.
