The answer is both yes and no! If you train in any traditional martial arts like Karate,
Taekwondo, Kung Fu, and others you will become an efficient practitioner over time. Your
practice will make you good! However, most traditional martial arts take years to learn. If your
goal is to defend yourself in real life scenarios and become proficient quickly, the traditional
path may not be the right one. A properly taught self-defense system can be learned quickly
because it teaches exactly that…. self-defense. There are no belts or ranks but rather three
levels. The first level is beginner, the second is intermediate, and the third is advanced.
Additionally, self-defense systems are not designed for tournament competition but rather
street scenarios. Typical examples include bar fights, street fights, robberies, attempted rape,
attempted assaults, bully prevention, and active shooter defenses. If you desire to be an
effective fighter, without spending years training, a self-defense system is the way to go! Most
systems will incorporate techniques from a variety of martial arts. Using techniques from a
variety of martial arts is the best way to train. If you are interested in learning more, please
